Onyx

Reputed to be the eleventh or Shoham stone in the High Priest breastplate inscribed with the tribal name of Gad. Onyx comes from the Latin and Greek words meaning “claw” or “fingernail” for its resemblance to the human nail, and is referred to by the Arabic term el jaza meaning “sadness.” Onyx is a stone of separation and can help recognize old habits or relationships that need to be re-evaluated or released, and brings the inner strength needed to let go. Onyx stimulates the Base Chakras, which often leads to independence and spontaneous leadership while grounding oneself.
